Beautification Committee
This committee was officially created and most instrumental in the early 2000s, after thorough discussion about improvements which can be made to the Town. The primary focus for the Committee was to develop a unique community, apparent to both residents and visitors.
Some past changes the Beautification Committee have been involved in include:
- 2002: Six street lights were installed in the center, on Enfield Main Road, and provided safety lighting. Planters, flags, and holiday decorations were also hung at various times of the year. Wooden planters and shrubs were planted at the base of each light pole.
- 2007: Large hand carved “Welcome to Enfield” signs were placed at each end of the Hamlet of Enfield. The gardens surrounding these signs are also maintained by the Committee.
More general responsibilities of the Committee include:
- Coordinate and schedule various items (banners, lights, etc.) to be displayed on street light poles
- Examples: Flags are hung during Memorial Day weekend and removed after Veterans’ Day. Holiday lights are hung soon after Thanksgiving.
- Maintain various Town flower beds, which include six at each street light, one per “Welcome to Enfield” sign, and one per both the Community Building and Town Hall
- Order new supplies for the Town gardens
- Provide various documents as part of an Annual Report to the Town Board
- Should indicate various items available for display, location of gardens, major plantings (ie. memorial trees)
- Includes financial report (grants received, etc.)
- Approximate number of volunteer hours towards various projects
- List of capital equipment including approximate date of purchase, as maintained by the Committee Chair
This Committee outline was originally adopted in December, 2009.
