The Town of Enfield is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all residents, including those with disabilities. We are continuously improving the user experience and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure our services, programs, and activities are fully inclusive.
Our Standards
To provide a seamless experience for all users, the Town of Enfield website strives to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities.
Goals
We are working to ensure our digital presence includes:
- Keyboard Navigation: Ensuring all menus, forms, and buttons can be operated without a mouse.
- Text Alternatives: Providing Alt-Text for images so screen readers can describe visual content.
- Document Remediation: Working to ensure Town documents are screen-reader friendly.
- Color Contrast: Maintaining a high contrast ratio between text and backgrounds for better readability.
Conformance Status and Known Limitations
The website is currently partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We recognize that some areas of the website, including older PDFs and pages, may not yet be fully compliant due to a lack of tags or low contrast ratios. We are in the process of auditing these resources and pages to bring them up to desired standards.
