Certain road segments in Enfield are seasonal and are not treated or plowed from December 1 through April 1. Residents using these sections do so at their own risk. These areas include parts of West Enfield Center Road and Butternut Creek Road from Thomas Rd to VanOstrand Rd. These roads are posted with signs reading “Seasonal roads, no maintenance Dec 1st through April 1st.”
During inclement winter weather, Town trucks cover four routes. Each route is approximately ten center line miles (20 miles round-trip). Depending on the amount of snow, it takes approximately four hours to complete each route.
Please note that cinders are no longer available. We primarily use sand on the roads, though a salt/sand mixture is used on paved roads under certain weather conditions.
