What Alerts Will I Receive?
SIREN allows the Town of Enfield and Tompkins County to send time-sensitive notifications regarding:
- Severe Weather: Flooding, blizzards, and high-wind warnings.
- Safety Risks: Road closures, active police situations, or missing persons.
- Public Health: Water boil advisories or health department updates.
Why is this important for Enfield?
SIREN allows communities to notify their residents of emergency and non-emergency events. Emergency messages may include information on floods, fires, water emergencies, road closures, missing persons, evacuation orders, and weather
emergencies. Non-emergency communication notifications may include Township information such as event and program reminders, service information, and other general communications.
Over 1000 published Enfield phone numbers were uploaded into the system at the County level; however, many of our community members are not in the system because they have unlisted, unpublished or cell phone numbers. It is important for residents, employees and business owners to provide and update their contact information to ensure emergency information can be passed on to everyone in a timely matter.
