The Enfield Community Council (ECC) and The ARE club have been working hard on planting a 3 sisters garden at our garden area next our pavilion. Please stop in to check out their progress. 

Here is a little information on the tradition of the 3 sisters and the planting technique used found on the Native Seeds website:

The tradition of calling these crops the "Three Sisters" originated with the Haudenosaunee, pronounced Ho-deh-no-shaw-nee. Also known as Iroquois, Haudenosaunee live in regions around the Great Lake in the Northeastern United States and Canada. All three types of seeds are planted together in the same mound in the Haudenasaunee planting method. The elevated mound assists with drainage and avoids water logging of the plant roots which is important in this region that receives abundant rainfall in the summer.

ARE meets the first Saturday at the community center from ​10 am - noon.
