Marriage License Procedure
Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! Please read the following information carefully to ensure prompt processing of your marriage license.
Step 1: Fill out the Marriage License Application (PDF, 59 KB) for each party.
Step 2: Prepare materials, including documents and a $40 license fee. Each person needs to provide at least 2 forms of identification:
- Age: Birth Certificate
- Identity: Passport or Driver’s License
- If there have been previous marriages: Divorce and/or Death Certificates
Step 3: Reach out to the Town Clerk at townclerk@townofenfieldny.gov to schedule an appointment.
Step 4: Once the license is issued, there is a 24-hour waiting period before the wedding ceremony can be performed. The marriage license will expire within 60 days of issuing.
Step 5: Hold the wedding ceremony.
Step 6: Have the officiant of your wedding complete the license form where appropriate and sign.
Step 7: Deliver or mail your completed license back to the Town Clerk at 168 Enfield Main Road, Ithaca, New York, 14850.
Step 8: Wait for your certificate of marriage with the official seat to be mailed to you.
